A bidding war is a beautiful thing. Two bidders dig in their heels and the war of nerves is on.
That’s exactly what happened over a couple of Fords at Russo and Steele this evening. The first car was a ’69 Shelby GT500.
Two bidders were bound and determined to own this car. The bids went back and forth, back and forth, even after the car left the arena.
By the end of the bidding, the price had climbed past $105,000. The losing bidder graciously gave the winner a round of applause when the final gavel fell.
Not 15 minutes later, the losing bidder of the Shelby found himself in a second heated bidding war, this time for a 1966 Mustang GT with just under 300 original miles. By the final gavel, the losing bidder of the Shelby became the winning bidder of the GT, at an astounding $135,000, surely a new record for any GT.
